Improving fish passage with Nuveen Natural Capital

In July of 2024 we will break ground on a fish passage and habitat improvement project funded by the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, with our long time restoration and stewardship partners, Nuveen Natural Capital (formerly Greenwood Resources).

The project will consist of the decommissioning and removal of a timber road and undersized, failing culvert that is blocking access to nearly 1.6-miles of fully volitional salmonid habitat. Oregon coast coho, Coastal Cutthroat, Winter Steelhead and a number of other important coastal species utilize this stream and will benefit from being able to access high-quality upstream spawning habitat.

The NWC and Nuveen Natural Capital have selected Hixson Trucking LLC., based out of Garibaldi, Oregon, to conduct the on-site improvements as led by NWC and Nuveen Natural Capital.
